Corona Virus

A rapidly evolving health story broke out in late December, when a new disease originating in Wuhan, China made headlines. Reports on the number of infected people have grown rapidly and isolated cases of this new coronavirus - called by scientists 2019-nCoV - have appeared in several countries due to international travel.
Corona viruses are a common cause of colds and other infections in upper respiratory tract. These viruses are zoonoses, which means that they can infect certain animals and spread from one animal to another. A coronavirus can spread in humans, especially if certain mutations of the virus occur.

Corona Virus Symptoms

The symptoms of most corona viruses are similar to any other upper respiratory tract infection, including
  • Runny nose
  • Cough
  • Sore throat
  • Fever

In most cases, you won't know if you have a corona virus or other cold-causing viruses, such as rhinovirus.

How to Avoid Corona Virus

There is no vaccine against corona virus.
  • Wash your hands thoroughly with warm water and soap or an alcohol-based cleaner.
  • Keep your hands and fingers away from the eyes, nose and mouth.
  • Avoid close contact with infected people.
  • Get plenty of rest.
  • Drink liquid.
  • A humidifier or steam shower can also relieve sore throats and scratches.
Take a medicine for neck pain and fever. But do not give aspirin to children or adolescents under the age of 19; use ibuprofen or paracetamol instead.
